Thakadu Bush Camp is situated just South of Ghanzi, overlooking a calcrete pan and a floodlit waterhole. The lodge is surrounded by ancient Leadwood trees, which thrives on this ridge and provide us with natural shade for the accommodation.
Thakadu offers accommodation, activities, a well-stocked bar and restaurant and a curio shop with a range of crafts and some emergency supplies for travellers. We also have credit card facilities and wireless Internet available at reception. Accommodation is provided in luxurious rooms, en-suite thatched chalets, en-suite Meru tents and budget twin-bedded budget cabins.
Our cosy restaurant overlooking the waterhole provides excellent a la carte meals at reasonable prices, and a selection of fine wines. A raised swimming pool is available to guests and also overlooks the pan.
The pan at Thakadu naturally holds water for a few months after rain, but we supplement this to provide a waterhole throughout the year. The Ghanzi district is blessed with an abundance of wildlife and birds and these are drawn to Thakadu pan and can be seen while sitting on the veranda or at the pool. Self drive game drives are available on Kabakae Game Reserve where large herds of eland and other Kalahari plains wildlife may be seen. We provide bush walks for the adventurous, Bushman experience walks and dances that has to be booked in advance.
