Situated within walking distance from the Vaal River, The River Resort offers an idyllic getaway destination to guests. It is located at the Emerald Resort and Casino and is a great option for nature- and water enthusiasts.

This resort has 99 comfortably furnished chalets, of which all offer a variety of layouts to cater to the needs of travellers. Each chalet has a private bathroom, a lounge with a TV and DStv access as well as a well-equipped kitchen for all of your self-catering needs.

Guests can enjoy plenty of activities during their stay. These include visiting the Animal World and the Aquadome. Visitors can also spend some time playing adventure golf or ten-pin bowling. The more active guests can try their hand at wall climbing.

There are a variety of restaurants and eateries on offer, serving an assortment of delicious dishes. The on-site spa also presents a selection of treatments, allowing guests to unwind and relax.

Neglected Chalets by

The Chalets need some TLC. Outside tables were falling apart, braai stands were rusty and bent, we didn't even have a shower extension in the bath for our unit, everything just seemed neglected and run down.

Housekeeping is very slow, we had to wait until 4pm on the second day to get bath towels  - we brought swimming towels for the Aquadome and came back to the chalet to find all the towels removed but not replaced and called reception, both house-keeping numbers with no answer on either line.

Place looks nice on the outside though. Shuttle service was good, reception and booking issues were sorted out in a jiffy - so thanks for that.
