This malaria-free Big 5 family-owned and operated private game reserve comprises nearly 9000 hectares of pristine wilderness that spans across five different eco-systems that include riverine forest, valley bushveld, savannah grasslands, fynbos, and acacia woodlands.
The Homestead is a private lodge which offers its' guests all the comfort, convenience and luxury of their own home. With a dedicated game ranger and chef, guests have the flexibility to plan their day according to their own specific needs.
The Homestead is set in a remote and private part of the reserve. With five spacious bedrooms, all en suite, a bar, swimming pool, satellite TV, playroom for children and spectacular views, it is the perfect lodge for the sole use of a group or family of up to 10 persons.
The reserve is home to more than 25 species of game including lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, White rhino, hippo, hyena, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck, nyala, kudu, warthog, and a variety of other antelope and more than 280 species of birds.
Kariega prides itself in the abundance of general game and birdlife supplementing the Big 5. A unique feature is the ability to walk freely and safely amongst the game in an area of the reserve which excludes the dangerous Big 5 animals.
The reserve is situated in the Eastern Cape province, at the end of South Africa's famous Garden Route, and incorporates the Kariega and Bushmans Rivers. Kariega is 14 km from Kenton-on-Sea and 141 km from Port Elizabeth.
