The Sanctuary Bush Retreat is located on a dune overlooking the Karatara River and the Black Sea. It is 12 kilometres outside the village of Sedgefield.
The resort is technology-free and offers unique, eco-friendly and self-catering accommodation that utilizes solar energy. The accommodation's breathtaking views create a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
This double-storey house is 75 m² and is built with 4 recycled shipping containers. It forms part of the resort's self-sustaining lifestyle. Ideal for a couple or single traveller. The first-floor open-plan bedroom has a deck that offers beautiful views of the river valley and the Swartvlei reserve to the west. The bedroom has eclectic furniture pieces that create a retro feel, there is a double bed, 2 sofas, a coffee table and a ceramic fireplace.
The ground floor open-plan kitchen is well-equipped and modernly decorated. The lounge and dining area off the kitchen have a TV with a DVD player. There is also a private bathroom with a shower. The greywater is recycled and there is a compost eco-toilet.
The host lives on site and is available to assist guests with any questions or advice about the area. The hosts grow their own bananas, organic vegetables, and have chickens for fresh eggs. There is also a cat and a dog living on the premises.
