The Stables

The Stables offers traditional rustic outdoor self-catering holiday accommodation to families who enjoy water and nature. Although the cottage is fully equipped with electricity and all modern amenities including security it also offers an opportunity to experience an old-world lifestyle. Boil water or prepare food in old-style utensils on a traditional black Dover wood stove in the barbeque area, light oil lamps or candles, shower in the moonlight, hear the rain drops on the roof, sit on the porch and greet the passers-by, bring your dog, walk for miles, swim, float up and down the river with the tide, bring your boat, search for wildlife along the river, fish for crabs, find oysters, mussels and octopus, admire the cycads, watch and listen to the birdlife, see the stars, have a boat cruise in the dark, make foot prints in the phosphor..The holiday house is well-situated close to many of this area's attractions, including game reserves, pristine beaches, the Cannon Rocks and Alexandria Hiking Trial, and a variety of sheltered bays for snorkelling, fishing and other water sports. The Bushmans River, 300 metres away, is the second longest navigable river in South Africa. It offers boating, water skiing, rowing, fishing, swimming and game watching opportunities.The Stables is an architecturally designed open-plan holiday house that can accommodate up to 13 guests. It contains 4 double bedrooms, as well as a bunk room that sleeps 5, and has 3 bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. There are 2 double door fridge-freezers. The lounge area includes a TV with Premium DStv. There is a private and secure inner courtyard that includes a covered braai and dining area, as well as two outside showers and a separate, fourth toilet. There is a washing machine and also a laundry yard. There is ample parking on site. Security measures comprise an armed-response alarm system which includes electronic beams on the outside perimeter.
