ThornForest -Your home in the bush

Escape from the noise and buzz of your daily life to comfort in the bush. Located in a wildlife conservation area where the animals stroll by, past your windows. Book your break at ThornForest, a Bed and Breakfast which has been designed for comfort and relaxation. ThornForest is conveniently situated close to the iconic Kruger National Park. A wealth of heritage and scenic sites nearby and close enough to visit neighbouring Swaziland and Mozambique, treat yourself to a holiday in the true sense of the word as you leave daily chores behind, and relax in this magical bush paradise.
ThornForest is sited in an indigenous forest, where southern African wildlife roam free.

The thorn trees jealously guard, the magical leadwood standing majestically tall in the heart of the forest view.
Equipped with solar panels and gas water heating system, and a tank for water storage, ThornForest is moving towards off the grid. Going green goes further than just the energy requirements as we source guest amenities made from natural products, aiming to keep packaging and single use items to a minimum. Food is sourced from local suppliers.
Four well appointed, en-suite and air-conditioned rooms await your arrival.
Sip your early morning beverages and enjoy your meals in the comfort of your own patio. Breakfast is served daily. Should you be planning an early start to your day's adventure, a breakfast packed for a picnic on the road will be provided, on request.
Prepared water in a bottle in your fridge is provided, which is replenished daily.

Dinner is optional and should be pre-arranged. If you prefer to eat out, there are nearby restaurants which can provide you with casual dining. On-site braai facilities are available.
If there is a dietary requirement, please advise with your booking.

A splash pool with martini seats, ideal to cool off in and watch the African sunset.
Enjoy sharing your day's adventures around the fire pit, listen to the night sounds of the evening bush, both lesser and thick tailed bushbabies accompany the sounds of the alarm calls of the buck. The roar of the king of the jungle is heard regularly, and occasionally the grunts of the hippo, cackle of the hyena and melodic nightjar. A southern white faced owl may pay you a visit and if you are super lucky you may catch site of the shy lesser spotted genets or our rare Mellar's mongoose.

A gazebo provides cover for seating under the canopy of the indigenous trees. Relax and watch the kudu, zebra, impala, blue wildebeest, bushbuck and duiker wander by on their daily forage for food. Mischievous little vervet monkey, banded mongoose and warthogs pop in to entertain you with their acrobatics and antics. The ostrich and giraffe are also known to visit ThornForest.
