Tona Lodge

Tona Lodge is a simple community-operated lodge located in a remote village location high up in the Pare Mountains in north eastern Tanzania. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and enables guests to learn more about the flora and fauna, geology, and local culture. Emphasis is on comfort and enjoying the scenery.

Built in the beginning of the 20th century, each of the five modest brick wings have been turned into small cottages with electricity, operated by a generator, running water and private rooms.

The lodge offers accommodation in double, single or deluxe rooms. The rooms are set in cottages high on the hillside, and affording superb views across the steep valley. Each room promises hot as well as cold running water, and decent, clean beds. Alternatively, if you prefer to camp you can bring your own equipment and set up your tent in the garden of the lodge. Lunch and dinner are available, if ordered in advance, for a reasonable price.
