TRITONIA COTTAGE REVIEWS (67 %) Disaster stay by Elmar Claassens, South Africa 31 December 2015 This has not been a pleasant stay at all And the first time qin years that we complain about a Safari listing.Double bed mattress was so worn out and full of lumps that we ended up sleeping on the floor and chair from day 3. The single bed's wooden base collapsed every night. No towellig provided and blankets in the cupboard were full of dog hair.Very limited privacy. The listing indicates secure parking but we had to park outside in the street. We could only park inside at night after we made a huge fuss about this. Not child friendly at all. When the children played on the lawn, the old man turned on the sprayers. The dogs frightened the kids and the pool is not fenced off properly. The Flat is very hot and cramped with too much furniture. Apon arrival we sat waiting for half an hour in the hot car, after we arranged our time of arrival the previous day. The host is really not ready to successfully accommodate guests yet. Establishment Response: Upon arrival His children were very noisy and the parents also shouted loud at the 2 boys to behave, i could hear them all from my cottage. Indeed a very noisy family. The children were given some golf clubs and balls which they hit on the lawn, the owner, the old man asked them not to do this as this made holes in the lawn, and balls flying can break a window or hit a person, the old man had to fill up the holes and later put on the sprinkler. This was not intended to wet the kids at all. The double bed has no holes in and is not worn, if they slept on the floor and chair like they say they did, then why didn't they complain about the mattress to me? They knew from start that it is a studio cottage for 2 or 3 people and I accommodated them for their 2 kids, yes it's been very hot and it's not my doing but the cottage has open door and windows and a roof fan, the heat is everywhere!!! I cannot control the heat waves here in Cape Town. Upon arrival Mr Claassens called me at work to say he arrived, I immediately called my dad who opened up for them, I'm sure they didn't wait half an hour to get inside, my dad opened up for them. Mr Claassens didn't say exact time of arrival as nobody can know this, we don't wait outside for guests but they call us upon arrival and we open for them to give them keys. Also Mr Claassens knew about the parking arrangement, during the day to park on the paved area on pavement and we made arrangements to park guests inside at night, he was happy about this, so why complain, we can't all park inside all day as then how do we get out? Of the long driveway. We also accommodated Mr. Claassens request to park a Trailer he brought along, this was not known at time of booking, my dad escorted him to park his Trailer after offloading his stuff at a nearby duplex which dad owns, that was a favour done for Mr. Claassens free of charge. Other than us asking his kids not to dig the garden with the ball clubs, we did not disturb them and I hardly saw them as the cottage is private in the corner, we left them alone despite the noise of kids. Mr Claassens was also unfriendly to my mom when she asked they bring their rubbish to main bin, he was real nasty and refused, and we don't go into their cottage to fetch rubbish removal. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom cupboard, maybe they didn't see them but then again why didn't they ask? According to myself they were well supplied with towels and bedding, I really don't know about hair on blankets, my dogs don't sleep in the cottage. Also the dogs we have are cocker spaniels and were not in their area, yes dogs can bark and maybe that scared the small kids but mostly these guests were out during the day and at night we bring in our dogs. A well deserved 5 star by Abed Maphanga, South Africa 30 September 2016 Had great stay at this apartment, it was packed with everything one could ever look for in a house, your kitchen utensils its fully furnished, decorated with fine art, i'd definately recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable apartment that's not far from the beach and shopping complex, the reception from the establishment is at its best! Thank you Bo for such a lovely holiday. Lovely cottage - small but with all amenities by Carol Clohessy 14 March 2017 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tritonia Cottage which is attractively decorated and for a studio apartment was comfortable and being separate from the main house is an advantage and it looked onto the garden. We would stay here again and found its proximity to Blouberg Beach and easy access to the Westcoast road ideal. Being able to use the swimming pool was a big plus as temperatures were in the high twenties during our stay and we were able to enjoy cooling off each day after seeing the sights which was essential.
On the negative side, in the advert it stated that Wi-Fi was available and the modem in the main house had to be moved in order for me to obtain a signal in the kitchen of the cottage and this took a while to organise and was not available when we arrived and was only sorted out by the next morning causing some irritation. Off street parking was advertised and we assumed that this would mean that there was parking inside the premises and this was not possible and we had to park our vehicle on the paved area on the verge ie off the street but on the verge and not secure and on the premises. This should be corrected in the advert. The entrance to the cottage is via an alleyway that could perhaps be made to look tidier and more attractive as this is your first impression of the facility when you arrive and is not an accurate picture of how pretty and comfortable the cottage is for your stay.
