Twinstreams Environmental Education CentreMtunzini, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa Backpacker from R 85 | R 85 |
Twinstreams is situated right in the middle of an amazing dune forest nestled on the outskirts of the magnificent Mtunzini Eco-Village, along the pristine coastline of Zululand.
Mangrove swamps, estuaries, long stretches of beaches, superlative birding with over 600 species and forest hikes are some of the few life-changing experiences awaiting you in this patch of paradise.
Twinstreams consists of three rustic accommodations all with separate ablution blocks. The Sinkwe Centre can accommodate up to 32 guests in eight comfortable rooms each with two double bunk beds, with modest self-catering facilities, all amidst a well-lit forest.
Mick's Park has two raised sleeping lofts under a high roof and gives large groups an outdoor camping experience but in an indoor comfort zone. Up to 30 youngsters can sleep on mattresses in the loft or six guests can sleep in the two dorm rooms in either a four-bed or two-bed room.
Lastly there are two new teachers' cabins, each with two single beds, tea and coffee facilities and bedding. There is also a large wooden deck surrounded by indigenous forest, ideal for facilitators to relax on while their group is being looked after by our well-trained guides.
Established in 1952 by Dr Ian Garland, Twinstreams is the oldest Environmental Education Centre in South Africa. Mainly used for environmental education, Twinstreams is also an excellent facility for large groups looking for something out of the ordinary within a special setting.
The centre's accommodation and conference facilities are linked to a network of trails through coastal forests of incredible diversity and bird life, and only a short stroll away from a long stretch of deserted beach.
