View Lodge is situated at Gariep Dam, only 5 km off the N1, with sweeping views over the biggest man-made dam in South Africa.

The lovely lodge offers travellers a choice of six self-catering units with the option of ordering meals. The units are furnished with double or single beds, and the bathrooms contain a shower or bath. All the units also feature a private balcony offering beautiful views of the Gariep Dam.

Three of the units also have a Weber barbecue, and tea and coffee facilities are provided in all the units. All units are equipped with a TV with access to guest bouqueTV Channels. All rooms equipped with Air Conditioners. Communal barbecue facilities are available on the deck and guests can cool off in the sparkling pool or enjoy a drink at the private licensed bar, ideal for private functions, birthdays and family get-togethers.

A range of activities are available in the area, from 4x4 tracking, river rafting, sunset cruises on the dam, horse riding, and fishing and hiking around the wall and back. Guests can also take an inside tour of the Gariep Dam wall.This modern, spacious lodge is the ideal destination for a family getaway, for the business traveller, or overnight guest and offers tranquility and peace of mind.

Great place with a wonderful view, spacious accommodation, just don't take the coffee for breakfast! Wonderful place to stop over -free tour of Gariep dam wall was great! So easy to get there from joburg and so near the highway who would choose somewhere else to stop over?

This is an excellent choice for an overnight stay - we traveled from Knysna to Joburg, and this was in a perfect location. The accommodation was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. The unit we stayed in had a great view of the dam. The host was very friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

+Interior was very nice +Bed was comfortable +Host was very friendly and accommodating -Noisy. People were making noise throughout the night and it disturbed our sleep. Were woken up at 12am, 3am, and 4am. The rooms are not sound proof at all. -No milk in the room -The light from the DSTV decoder is very bright in darkness. We had to cover the decoder with a magazine.

We struggled to get a hold of the owner upon arrival, they were at the bottom of the property gardening. She showed us to our rooms, and advised us to visit the . The walls are rather thin making it difficult to sleep if the neighbors just talk on their cell phone. The rooms are small, but the layout is well thought-out, with a quaint and well equipped kitchen area with mini-fridge. There is a shower in the room and a separate toilet. We had a comfortable night over. The view in the afternoons and mornings (from the kitchen) over the dam is fantastic! It was unfortunate that the water levels were at 50% with our visit, imagine it at 100%!

The room was small but well appointed and comfortable. No sink or cooker in the kitchenette.

Friendly reception, comfortable clean room, watching the full moon reflecting on the dam. Highly recommended if you want to stay in Gariepdam
