Villa 33, Blantyre

There is nothing more annoying than turning up at an establishment and finding that they have changed your original booking. In other words, you book a particular room location or bed configuration and when you arrive you are allocated something different.



So this is what Villa 33 did to us. We booked a family room and were allocated 2 double rooms - it's 5pm and we have pre-paid so we have absolutely no choice but to stick with the booking. Luckily we were travelling with a 12 year old so he was just about ok in his own room although he (and I) would have been more comfortable if he would have been part of our room. Imagine if our child had been younger?



The establishment claimed that, on the day that they issued my quote, they sent me a late evening message (apparently via SafariNow) explaining that the family room had been booked by another party (Why would you do that when I had said that I would book the room!!!). That message never reached me and it was interesting that their message was timed an hour AFTER I had already sent the deposit. Obviously I never acknowledged this so called message and they never checked that I was ok with the changed accommodation. Shame on you Villa 33.



If the booking had been handled correctly I would possibly allocate this establishment 2/3 stars. The showers are great, but somewhat spoiled by the grubby and frayed towels on offer. The beds are passable - but the mattresses allow you to feel every movement of the other person. The rooms clean and neat, but very plain and bare - not particularly welcoming or homely. A simple, but adequate breakfast was on offer in their equally plan and bare reception/ dining area.
