Villa Sands

Welcome to Villa Sands, a boutique hotel formed from three old warehouses, located in the unique island town of Ilha de Moçambique. The island was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. Villa Sands is the perfect starting point for exploration of the rich cultural history of the island, and experiencing all the adventures of the Indian Ocean.

Eight chic double rooms are available on the ground floor, each beautifully decorated and all with comfortable king-size beds, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and en-suite bathrooms. Located one flight up is the exclusive Rooftop Suite, with a further three double rooms, its own private pool and terraces.

Our hotel restaurant emphasizes a modern approach to cooking, with the best, freshest local seafood prepared in a variety of ways. Poultry and beef can be grilled to perfection on the outdoor grill and meals can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors. If you choose to, you can enjoy all of your meals at the hotel restaurant which is open every day for all three meals. It also provides service for the Rooftop Suite.

If, however, you feel like venturing out into the picturesque town of Ilha, there are several dining options available. Anchora d'Oro serves the best pizza outside of Rome, or enjoy wonderful views of the city and a bowl of pasta at the rooftop restaurant run by Roberto, Casa Rosa. If you have a taste for local cuisine, the traditional Moçambique shrimp stew served at Reliques is delightful, the lobster salad at Hotel Escondidinho is divine.

The hotel offers a seafront terrace with a swimming pool, sun beds and bar service. A laundry service can be provided on request, and a safety box is available in reception for guests' valuables. We can also provide complimentary bicycles for touring the island and excursions such as guided tours of the city, boat trips and diving can be arranged.
